Living with Crohn’s, I’ve been on Remicade and am now on Humira. I’m not sure why these drugs are so expensive, why our system seems to be set up against us, and why we have to fight so hard for basic human rights. My psychological struggles with Crohn’s and its treatments have been far greater than the physical challenges, because I know that I would not be able to afford treatment without my job. I feel limited most of the time in thinking about which jobs or careers to take next because this decision rests solely on whether or not I will have benefits like health care.
